How hard can it be

I’m not obsessed about grammar. English is a living language and all that; things change; split infinitives and end sentences with prepositions as much as you like.

But why is it so difficult to get apostrophes right? Especially on signs. Why not check before you commit? It it a possessive, like Shakespeare’s? Or a plural possessive? Maybe two brothers called Shakespeare opened a pub, in which case the apostrophe can go at the end. But, you know, it needs one, so get it right.
