Writing on the wall
I’m determined not to jinx it, but it feels like the beginning of the end for this shambles.
Nothing is certain, and people are idiots, so who knows how they would vote, but the prospect of an informed vote based on facts, rather than unchallenged lies is on the cards. If the electorate mess up again then it’s time to jump ship and leave them to their fate.
I enjoyed the government becoming the first ever to lose a contempt vote - and nobody is more deserving of that than them; I also enjoyed them losing other votes too as perennial rebels until the last minute finally decided to stand their ground.
I remain baffled that people continue to get away with the suggestion that having a vote would somehow be a betrayal of democracy - maybe they should look up the meaning of that word - but the power of that ridiculous argument is dwindling.
This has been a testing time for this country. A lot of slime and bile that was supposed to be buried forever in a sealed metal box has oozed its way into the daylight and needs to be forced into exile again. People are unafraid to say despicable things now, and they need to be reacquainted with the proper sense of shame. This time it needs to be forever.
