Eat More Veggies? Sure!

What a great way to eat more yams, beets, carrots, potatoes, and kale!

And those crispy veggie chips were only part of my lunch today at Ciao Thyme's latest venture, on.the.side, a diminutive and delightful lunch bistro attached to their main building. There's counter seating inside, as well as at the festive tables outside -- too cool for the latter today, as our weather has shifted from the sunshine we've enjoyed so long.

I also enjoyed a cup of heirloom tomato soup and a splendid salad of Blue Bird organic heirloom farro (an ancient wheat) grown in eastern Washington, combined with smoked shitake mushrooms, carrots, roasted cauliflower, and cherry tomatoes, both seen here. Housemade rosemary lemonade was my drink of choice, and I shared a small lemon curd tart, topped with slices of fresh plum and fig, and garnished with tiny threads of candied lemon peel, with my lunch companion -- as well as most of my veggie chips, as I hadn't realized how generous the portions would be when I placed my order.
