Dogwood - NO it's a Kalmia Latifolia!!

I have been looking at this glorious bush for days now and this morning I screamed to a halt and took a pic with my iPhone. Huntley is one of the original cottages along Shipley Road and I have met the owners.

One day I was at home on my own when two lovely old dogs arrived unannounced. I could see they were fairly elderly and in fact seemed to have fairly poor eye sight. Fortunately they both had name tags and a phone number. I promptly rang the owners and within a flash the owners of Huntley were on my doorstep to collect them. They were SO relieved to know they were okay as they had been looking for them all morning. A few weeks later a lovely parcel of hand embroidered towels arrived as a thank you. Sadly both of those beautiful doggies have passed away now but I was happy to see the owner with a brand spanking new companion in tow the other day.

Thanks to Trisharooni and Old Timer for setting me right! It's really quite an exquisite blossom and I've vowed to return with my macro lens!
