Reed flowers
The reeds along the river are an endless source of fascination, changing appearance throughout the year. In the winter and spring the soft, silvery seed heads look magnificent when backlit by the low sun, or dramatic when silhouetted against a colourful sunrise or sunset. In the autumn the burgundy flowers are prominent, gradually dulling to a deeper purple. It was this colour, against the almost mustard-yellow of the changing willow foliage, that captured my attention this morning.
I decided to have a blip-break yesterday, a rather dull day weatherwise and one where I didn't get out for a walk, partly because of a painful toe. However, my enforced confinemnet meant that I got a lot of writing done! This week is rather unsettled. Pete went off to Leed yesterday, to teach on a Masters course, and will be back on Wednesday evening. Chris is returning this evening, and will be staying for Alex's birthday celebrations at the weekend. I just seem to be doing an awful lot of taxi-driving!
