A year to the day
A year ago, the big banner band formed to sew a huge banner for the outside of one of our churches.
It was hot and heavy going, so in the end, we shelved the whole idea. During the year, I have been progressivy hemming the letters whilst attending meeting and children's music concerts, so most letters just needed an iron.
Last week, one of the ladies asked if we could complete it.
So I ran a notice in the pew sheet. "We are getting the band back together - the big banner band, that is!"
There is a large over lap between the Wed morning service ladies and the big banner band, so this was our worship this week. We said some prayers, we heard the 23rd psalm and we ironed, pinned and tacked those letters on.
After lunch, I sewed them on with the sewing machine. I kept having to untangle myself from the metres and metres of calico, but it was done.
I shall finish off tomorrow and get it hung up. How exciting to see shelved projects come back to fruition.
What a great band they are.
Woo hoo!
