Flower Friday : : Bidens
I am assembling more and more data on plants to prove my growing belief that the more you leave plants alone, the better they do. Dana found this little Bidens, a sort of wild aster, in what appeared to be the trash at the nursery. She and OilMan planted it along with several other small plants in the front of the house the day before the fire started.
The entire time we were evacuated, these newly planted plants got no water and OilMan fretted continuously about them. We came back once and he went to Dana's and filled containers with water which he brought back. He also turned off our irrigation system because he didn't know what would happen with it if the power came back on.
When we got back, none of the plants was dead, and since then they have thrived and even bloomed, including this Bidens which looked practically dead when Dana planted it.
I am publishing this survivor today for my family members in Southern California who are now dealing with high winds, tinder dry hills and out of control wildfires as we did. I pray that they are all spared as we were....
