Como Day One

Today we took the bus over to Como. We are planning to stay over until tomorrow. The bus was very busy as usual Saturday there is a large market in Como, and then there are the Christmas attractions as well. Today there is also a demonstration and for reasons unknown to me there are several government ministers in town.

As a result Como is very very busy, though I think Christmas is the main attraction. After lunch we visit the Christmas Market. We were here a few years ago at Christmas, but this year the Market is much bigger, and overflows out of Piazza Cavour into one of the streets leading off the square.

In the evening the main squares are all lit up. The photograph shows some of the lights in Piazza Duomo. There are masses of people here to see the lights, and that includes us of course. Finding a restaurant for dinner was a bit problematic as everywhere was very busy, but we managed in the end.

It was quite expensive and fussy, it is lucky we were not very hungry. I managed to slip and fall when I got down from the stool. I felll against the adjacent table sending everything flying. After this ignominy we adjourned to a bar near the hotel for a couple of glasses of wine before returning to the hotel.
