inside Fort St. Angelo

Having slightly had enough of buses for a minute we opted to stay more local today. 
We crossed the footbridge and set off to explore the pretty streets and waterfront of Vittoriosa. We took a tour on the Happy Train and saw the impressively huge crenellated city walls as well as other landmarks. We had lunch outside a plaza cafe, the sun deliciously warm on our faces. 
We wandered around and found our way to the fort. It's really big and commands fantastic 360degree views of the surrounding cities and the harbour. 
All dripping with history of course, tales of battle and bravery, too much to take in. 
We took one of the small gondola taxis back across the water almost to the door of our apartment.  Another stunning day.
