An Annual Treat!
Today was a special day…it was the day M, dear friend B and I had our annual Christmas lunch on the North Norfolk Railway. The volunteers who put on this event are marvellous. From the moment you arrive at the station at Sheringham, you are looked after, and the volunteers are all so cheerful and friendly, and many are dressed up with festive waistcoats, hats, flashing badges etc. There is always a small wrapped present to open on the table, along with Christmas crackers and the carriages are suitably decked out with tinsel. The steam hauled train gently rocks along between Sheringham and Holt as an excellent three-course Christmas lunch is served. It’s all very civilised and cheery and wonderful to peer though the window at the coast going by swathed in clouds of steam…three hours of Christmas happiness.
