Miss Haversham

Our school were specially invited to look around Chatsworth House Christmas rooms today. We had made some Scarecrows for their kitchen gardens back in October and Chatsworth were very generous with their Christmas treat for us all.

The theme this year is Charles Dickens. Fagan began our journey by teaching us all how to pick pocket each other (the children were scarily good!), then we saw a very scared Scrooge amongst his ghosts, but the highlight for me was definitely Miss Haversham, surrounded by her wedding banquet of decay. The actress playing her was immense and really brought the story alive for the children, who are a little young to have come across Great Expectations yet.

A fabulous day and a particularly brilliant end to our Christmas term. Thank you so much Chatsworth! The decorations are well worth a visit if you are in the area :)
