Aaah!

It was a very busy day of meetings - the best bit was that one of them included a 25 min chat from the Vice Chancellor, very cheering.

Occasionally I glanced at the travel updates on the rail network, assuming the overhead line problem between Carlisle and Lockerbie that caused problems overnight would surely be fixed by the time I had to travel north. It seemed not; I was advised to travel down into London and back up to Edinburgh via the East coast line. Even including the ten minute scamper from Euston to Kings Cross the whole journey only took about an hour longer than the original plan; but it somehow seemed much longer.

Luckily I arrived back in time to stumble into the Guildford Arms where Mr H was waiting with a pint of delicious ale. This is the welcome sight of the Guildford's ornate ceiling, which catches the eye whenever one puts one's head back for another sup.
