The Grand Tour

The National Trust house Wimpole Hall has a beautiful theme of the Grand Tour for its decorated trees this year. Each room has a tree from a different country ( Italy , Germany, Greece, Hungary, Holland, the UK) -all stunning, adorned with typical decorations or reflecting the theme, and the room is similarly dressed. This one from the Ukraine was my favourite. Legend has it a poor widow couldn’t afford to decorate her tree but in the night a spider spun a web over it, Which in the morning looked like silver. Look closely for all the spiders and webs. Apparently if you find a spider web on your tree it’s lucky.
