Christmas Goodwill

To start with, many thanks to BobsBlips for hosting the Wideangle Wednesday circle. I threw my hat into the ring this week and as beginners luck would have it didn't my name appear on the top of the list. Thank you Bob and everyone else too.

This is not the greatest photo I have ever shot but I am posting it for its story. This couple were selling Christmas trees down in the town centre this morning. It was snowing, there were very few people about and I don't expect business was exactly booming.
Anyway, I couldn't resist shooting one frame with the phone camera and they reacted with loud "Ho, ho's". I wished them a Happy Christmas (in English firstly, then in Finnish) and went my way. I hadn't gone many paces when the man on the left came running up behind me. "You're not Finnish", he said, so I told him the story of how we had just arrived in IIttala from Ireland. Out from behind his back he brought a very traditional Finnish sheaf of wheat which is hung out for the birds at this sparse time of year. "For the birds" he said "A present for you".
I was bowled over. There is still some simple humanity left in the world after all.
He returned to his cold vigil beside his stock of trees and I continued on my way home, somewhat lighter of step.

Ps. I shot several very nice photos today but none have the back story this one has, so despite the grotty quality, this is the one which comes your way.
