Demolition
Went on a Wild Goose Breakfast Chase this morning. We’d promised ourselves a breakfast at Cavendish cafe here in Bearsted. Closed. Remembered the the Bell pub had a weekend breakfast club. Not today. Had to walk into town. Went to the Weald of Kent Hospice cafe, shut. Ended up at Leah’s 4.5 miles later, weak and famished where we finally enjoyed our breakfast. We should have gone there in the first place.
We walked past this place twice on our search for a breakfast. A sort of nondescript bungalow is being demolished to be replaced, I suppose with a whole new house. It must be someone with lots of cash not only to buy the place but also to demolish and rebuild. I’ll keep you posted.
Suitably fortified we did our bits of shopping and walked home again to get on with the remaining tasks. I applied for a new passport online which wasn’t the easiest experience as the automated upload kept saying the outline of my head was not visible when it clearly was. In the end I was able to insist the photo was accepted but of course, it may yet be rejected.
Time then to cook the evening meal - a mushroom bourguignon (I have to look that spelling up every time) and go for a slow run calling in at Doreen’s on the way.
Her curtains would not shut she said. And they wouldn’t, at least only one side would close. She has a pulley system and one side would not pull across. I discovered that the mechanism had snapped off. She has two sets of curtains and the mechanism had snapped off both. What’s going on? Has she or the carers been very heavy handed? One breaking I can understand but both is too much of a coincidence. It will cost a fair bit to replace and take some time too.
