An alternative title for this blip could be “and breathe “, as we sat down at a lovely table to drink this rather fine wine and eat a truly splendid dinner to which I contributed only the pudding and a couple of sauces - and one I didn’t have to clear up afterwards!

Four hours in bed, the usual ferry plus two hours’ drive - now it’s just past ten o’clock and I’m off to bed. I feel as exhausted as any traveller,, no matter what joy awaited at journey’s end, be it stable or family.
