"A Rose is a Rose is a Rose ...."
Between showers, took my leave of some service men I've been researching, in the war section of Oban Cemetery. I've mentioned them in Blip along the way. It still makes me sad to see the rows of plain headstones, some without names, just 'a sailor'.... and some so far from home, Australia, New Zealand, all here because they were serving our country. Without sensationalism, so rife in the press today, just quietly got on with the task in hand. This rose was still flowering at the end of their row.
I'm feeling reflective because this is my last day in Oban for some time. We'll slowly make our way south, via family visits, to our newly rented house in Sussex and in time, start house hunting again. The market is still dire and I don't expect it to change much until Spring, if then. At least we'll be in a strong position if and when we do find something suitable.
Not sure how I'll be fixed for internet connections along the way, but I'll be back in a week's time for sure, and will try to pop in when I can. Bye for now, Blippers.... have fun.
The quotation in the title is from Gertrude Stein's poem "Sacred Emily", and is generally taken to mean "things are what they are".
