Classic Langdale View

Thank you for all the appreciation shown to Cat Bells and Derwentwater, v honoured to spend part of Christmas on the popular pages.

Two fantabulous days on the trot left us a little giddy headed and we made an amateur mistake. As well seasoned locals we should have known better than to head into the heart of the Lake District. A 45minute drive took closer to 2 hours, but the views were grand.

We parked just after Skelwith Bridge and joined the throng on the well made path around Elterwater. The smooth water ice lurking in the shadows however made both pooch and me nervous, so we opted to walk across the mostly frozen grass. It also afforded bliportunities that didn't have brightly coloured people in them.

Though considerably easier ground than yesterday I waned quicker, so after roughly 2.5miles I opted for some reading in the van while Mrs IttH went to sketch Skelwith Force.
When choosing today's offering as ever my eyes were drawn to the snow capped Langdale Pikes, a classic Lakeland view.
