Dogwood

The most colourful garden plant here at the moment is this Cornus sanguinea Midwinter fire. It looks lovely when the sun catches it in the early afternoon, although it photographs better when it's not in direct sun. It seems to like the clay soil here and new stems have started coming up a little way from the parent plant.

There are hellebores and violas in flower too, and until the recent cold spell we had primroses out (they'd never really stopped flowering all year). It won't be too long before the snowdrops arrive.
