Everyday I Write The Book

Cat Crap

According to one cat psychology website I've been reading cats are solitary animals and in a multi-cat household you should cater for them individually (each with their own litter tray, personal space, food bowl etc). Okay, fine. We'll bang up four feline en suite arrangements. In fact I'll go further and each can have a dedicated garden with catnip growing in the corner, an individual tree to climb, and a cat hammock.

Or they can just learn to get on with each other, which they seem to be doing in this picture.

It actually gets better, saying that covered litter trays encourages bullying (I would have thought it encourages pissing on the carpet); if one cat becomes aggressive you should put a bell around it's neck to give the others warning (now that sounds mean - talk about singling someone out); and providing "multiple escape routes in times of tension" - cue the music for The Great Escape no doubt. If I see the kittens building a wooden horse and trying to calculate the distance between the house and the hedge I will know that it's game on for the dash for liberty from Cat Colditz ...

We try and run a happy household. They seem to be doing okay. As for the cat psychologists ... sounds like hokum to me (wasn't that one of TS Elliot's character's from Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats....?)

Had a nice day today. TSM and I stayed in bed with the papers and endless tea. Love reading to each other, particularly the very funny write up in "i" about The Great British bake Off. Long and lovely chat with The Girl Racer, followed by a a very smelly trip to the dump, then went into town to book our trip to Prague which took a long time but we finally got a result with (hopefully) a nice hotel. Also sat in Pret a Manger, brainstorming our work and career options. Quite a lot of good ideas although I still think winning euromillions remains my favoured option.

Top Gun has gone pub crawling in Greenwich (shades of his father's youth!). We are cooking and chilling tonight but have to play dad's taxi and pick The Dizzle up from a party at 1am so a late night without even a glass of wine ... The things you do for love ...
