The Shiants
Today's the day ............................... for an island view
The last book that my Book Group read was 'Sea Room' by Adam Nicholson.
It's a wonderful account of one man's love of the Shiants - three islands just off the coast of Harris - a very special place famous for the many seabirds including puffins that nest there, but also full of archaeological remains and spectacular geological formations. I enjoyed reading it very much, particularly because I knew we were coming to the Outer Hebrides and I would be able to see them from the garden of Alasdair and Seonag's house where we are staying.
And here they are in all their magical glory, taken first thing this morning before the weather closed in to hide them from view. The extra is a panorama of the wider view - looking southwards towards Harris . . . . . . . . . .
