New Year's Day
Thank you very much for the very kind and encouraging comments on my 1825th blip yesterday, I have enjoyed reading every one of them. What a wonderful supportive community this is!
Last night we had a very enjoyable evening celebrating the new year. We got to the restaurant late as we took so many photos at home before we left, I have added one of the family as an extra. Adam had packed some bowties so the boys got all dressed up and look rather spiffy! The meal was lovely, and then we left the car at the restaurant and walked home through the village, stopping off to watch the fireworks display. There were fireworks going off everywhere, in addition to the 'official' display many people were shooting off rockets and huge fireworks along the street as we were walking along (they do seem to have very lax fireworks regulations here!). Gavin and I got to bed at about 1.30am, but the younger family went out to a bar where they had a fantastic party and only got home at 4.30am!!
Yesterday was sunny and bright, then sometime in the early hours of the morning it snowed quite heavily as when we woke up this morning everything was once again white and covered in snow. Gavin and I walked back to get the car, stopping off for a coffee on the way, and then it turned beautifully sunny once again.
Sadly Luke left today to move to Berlin, as he starts his new job tomorrow. He got the train from here to Zurich and then was flying from Zurich to Berlin tonight. I felt very sad saying goodbye to him at the station, but we will see him shortly as he was unable to take all his stuff in one journey so he will be returning home to get the rest of the stuff in a week or so. I have added an extra of the station as his train arrived - the snow on the tracks had me thinking that if this was England the trains would all have been cancelled!
We went for a bit of a drive as I wanted to show Bianca a good viewpoint of the village - but the car got stuck in the snow and we had to abandon our plans! This is a view of the glacier and I loved the way everything looked like a winter wonderland.
Wishing everyone a very happy new year, and I hope the new year offers good health and happiness to all.
