The putting away of the Christmas star.
A day of foul, wet, dark weather. To add to the overall lack of cheer we have taken down the Christmas tree and packed away the decorations.
To mark the occasion here is another spice, star anise, which is obtained from the star-shaped pericarp of the fruit of Illicium verum a medium-sized evergreen tree native to northeast Vietnam and southwest China.
