We went to Cockermouth again today with friends. The sun shone all day and the hills were positively singing with Autumn colours. A white mist hung above Windermere and a short rainbow shimmered above.

Cockermouth greeted us warmly with its painted buildings and gaily decorated street furniture - all wrapped up in its Autumn finery.

A day like this is worth waiting for.
