Drummond Street and David C
So, here's the thing: if it doesn't really matter when you travel on a given day, you can often get a first class ticket for pretty much the same as a standard fare. Take into account the free food and drink, and you might even be quids in.
So, although I could have travelled to London, later - my meeting is tomorrow morning - I took advantage of this phenomenon and thus arrived in town just before five, which gave me plenty of time to check into my hotel, freshen up and ring Dan and Abi, before heading down to the Crown and Anchor to meet up with David.
Forty years ago we were bosom buddies growing up in Hong Kong, and we met up again for the first time since then a couple of years ago. Despite all that time passing, there is something there that hasn't aged or atrophied; I love him as much as I ever did. Happily, I see see him every few months, now, and this is evening was as wonderful as usual; so many laughs.
