Sightseeing!!

Four rather tired souls made it to breakfast to find a "strange" (to western eyes) assortment of food on offer. I ended up with a spam toasted bread sandwich, a bit dry as there was no butter.

We spent the day sightseeing, The Summer Palace, The Temple of Heaven, Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. Quite an achievement over the space of 8hrs!! I was pleased to have seen them before, as it was really too much to take in. The girls were in awe of what they were seeing and impressed with the commentary provided by our guide. The weather was beautiful with clear blue skies; the haziness of yesterday has cleared. We stopped off for lunch middaywhich was enjoyed by some more than others!!

Dinner was at TGI Friday at the hotel across the road. It was decided that a steak and a beer were needed to restore energy levels. We then decided to work out where the conference venue was situated as the blurb said it was a 5 minute walk, but it took 30 minutes. Hopefully we can take a shortcut through the Olympic park tomorrow.
