D Day

This was D Day in the Dower House, the day we have been waiting for during 3 long cold weeks of boiler non function; the day a plumber and a joiner were going to find where the water leak was under our floor.

The scenario we hoped for was that the leak would be directly under the boiler and the worst scenario would be if it were in the farthest corner of the house.
In the event, the leak was a huge one, seemingly from under the bathroom radiator, not quite in the furthest corner but on the way there, and with inspection hatches cut in the floor of 2 bedrooms and the hall, the bad news was that the whole under floor was awash with water.

Now we have the New Year joy of not only having the parquet flooring up, but the tiles on the bathroom floor and part of the wall will have to be dismantled to fix the leak.

The good news is that having isolated the leaking pipe for the moment, we have the remaining radiators working, but the bad news is wondering how to completely dry out the sodden concrete under all the floors and then reinstate carpets and flooring.
