Proud Weegie

The edge of the world.

Headed up to Sagres to view Fortaleza de Sagres...a very austere fort dating back to 1793 used by Henry the Navigator (guess what he did for a living...not telesales anyway!!). Panoramic views of the Atlantic...next stop USA. I was told this was where they made the first trans Atlantic cable telephone call...perhaps other blippers can confirm.

The area was surrounded by Furna's...or sea holes...said to be the gateway to hell...and very spooky especially if you are stupid enough to walk over the rusty metal grid that covers them and a wave came in....after 3 kids...bladder control isn't my forte!!!

took a trip to Lagos for coffee and crepes on our way back to the villa and to look at all the big boats.

Watched sunset on the roof and heading out for dinner shortly before the coke wears off no 3!!!

Saw the Atlantic and thought of an old Runrig song 'The edge of the world'. Google it if you want a great version on Edinburgh castle.

P.s. seafood cataplana for dinner. My fav. Reminds me of my first trip to Portugal many years ago.....with mrs tickle.dancing in the Chorbar til 4 am. Many happy memories eh Mrs T??? ' We don't like this room...it's too noisy and we will be in bed early'...aye...right!!!
