WWT London: Emperor Goose
More cute, colourful, and contrasty in large.
The Emperor geese were the stars of the show today: the Egyptian geese were the noisiest and causing most trouble, but cutest was a toss-up between these Emperors and the Hawaiian nēnē geese. The Emperor geese decided that my mother's boots were The Best Thing Ever, and four of them followed her around nibbling on the zips and toggles. The nēnēs had been thoroughly riled up by the 12 Egyptian geese that were fighting over their pond, so kept quivering their necks and charging about...
Other favourites today included the falcated duck and sweet whistling ducks (fulvous, black-bellied, and white-faced).
I've uploaded a new album to Flickr here (or right from here), including quite a few series (such as Emperor geese nibbling, falcated duck preening, Laysan duck Pilates, Egyptian geese fighting, hooded merganser splashing, ...).
Other birds photographed include: Bewick's swans, red-breasted geese, smews, eider ducks, white-winged ducks, magpie geese, black spur-winged geese, marbled ducks, white-headed ducks, barnacle geese, and pigeons...
