Growing up
Little Goldie is almost as big as his mum and we decided that today they could be let out into the main field, along with Sylvie And Mum who are in the other run. They have been desperate to leave their runs and join the other chickens but I have been waiting until there was less mud.
This morning we worked for some hours in the chicken field so were able to keep an eye on them. The two young chickens decided to stay put in their runs and watch the world through
the open doors. The mums were attacked by the red hens who obviously couldn't remember them being there before the group of rescued red hens arrived last year. Consequently the two mums returned to their maternity wings(the runs that is) but didn't mind the stream of cockeral visitors that came by to say hello and eat their food.
After cleaning out their runs and giving them fresh straw we decided to close them back up in their runs . We will try again another day.
It was good to see the sun today and it's been bright and clear. Long may it last.
