Room with a view
I have spent this morning in my daughter's bedroom 'bottoming' it as my mother would have said. I have been doing all the rooms since the completion of the decoration of the hall, stairs and landing. Dust seems to have got everywhere.
The day is foul (no wonder they were reminding us that it is 25 years since the great October storm on the weather last night!) and this is the view I have had of it from her room through the scaffold that was put up for the installation of our solar thermal panels a couple of weeks ago. It is still there as we are supposed to be having the roof line done too but they haven't turned up yet!
It has been a view of a different sort too.
Cleaning the shelves I came across books from childhood favourites like 'The Owl who's Afraid of the Dark' to 'Sweet Valley Twins'.
Trophies and pictures from her days as:
a cross country runner when she won for her club (Bingley Harriers - the same club as the Brownlee brothers) at different ages and for her county;
women's rugby player at University ('Players Player' trophy);
ballet dancer in her childhood and contemporary dancer just a couple of years ago performing in Bristol;
actor in local pantomimes and an 'Oscar' for portraying Kylie at a freshers ball at Uni. as well as a 'Best Drama Queen' rondel from 6th form days back in 2000!
There is even a card congratulating her for passing her driving test and a picture of 'FUG' the first car - a micra.
Lots of memories - and a new chapter about to start.
I wonder if she will ever take all this stuff away!
