There and back again

Dorset into Devon

Standing here in Dorset and looking southwest into Devon, you realize how much woodland there still is in this part of the world and this little cottage has a wonderful location.

If you look to the top right of the picture you can just see the arches of the Cannington Viaduct near Uplyme on the outskirts of Lyme Regis. This carried the "Bluebell Line" from the main line at Axminster to Lyme Regis. It has ten arches and was the first viaduct to be built of mass concrete. It was opened on the 24th August in 1903 and was closed by you know who in 1965. What a great tourist attraction it would be today !
