Virgen de Fatima
Took the opportunity this afternoon to go for a drive up the west coast of the island.
Yet again I was surprised to find so much evidence of recent volcanic activity. This is the monument erected by locals after the eruption of the San Juan volcano in 1949 destroyed the local village. You can still clearly see the path the lava took down the mountain; you could pretty much follow it all the way down to the coast.
