Plenty of motley crews competing in The Maldon Little Ship Club Row And Gig Race this afternoon. Alice in Wonderland was very voluptuous and not even wearing a Wonderbra. (Extras) The Mad Hatter's hat was so big it was only worn ashore. (Extras) Also taking part were Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Prince Philip and a whole longship full of Vikings which evoked memories of the Battle of Maldon in 991. Britnoth, whose statue stands on The Promenade, fought bravely to try to repel the invaders. A grandfather of ninety rowed the course with his granddaughter as crew.

I'd left home thinking positive as usual but the rain didn't stop and it was freezing cold. Well done to all those who took part, I hope they raised lots for the RNLI.
