Day #7 Golfito, Costa Rica - Dolphin Watch
Last night we had the most amazing meal in the Italian speciality restaurant - we will be rolling off this ship at the end I'm sure!
Today we are in Golfito which is a small town with not that much going for it apart from tourism. They do trips, mainly on small boats to look for dolphins and to go to the wildlife sanctuary.
We were really fortunate to see the dolphins, as the afternoon group saw none! We saw LOADS of them. Apparently the pod numbers 324 according to the guide, although there were nowhere near this number today, but they could all have been feeding below...
My main blip is a shot of a few dolphins and in extras I have a shot of a jumping dolphin, but it is not quite in focus, nor with the correct settings I'm sure. I took tons of shots and most of them were just water so have already been deleted.
After the dolphins we went to an animal sanctuary where the owner looks after a number of orphaned animals that cannot be released back into the wild. There were 2 spider monkeys waiting to greet us - Sweetie, who followed us around the whole time, and another one who had a baby. They were both very friendly, but are still wild animals who are free to roam, but keep coming back for food and home comforts ;)
Also in extras is a shot of some flying scarlet macaws - again not in focus and heavily cropped as they were so far away. They were just wonderful to see and hope to see them again in the coming days.
Tonight we were invited to dinner by second in command, The Staff Captain. He was very personable and I sat next to him all evening chatting away. He will soon get his own command I'm certain.
