Stuff and Nonsense

Day #8 Quepos - Coati

Today we were in Quepos, which is the nearest small town to the Manuel Antonio Park. This park is one of the smallest in Costa Rica but holds over 100 species of mammal and nearly 200 species of birds.
Amongst today's finds were both 2 and 3-toed sloths, although they were all sleeping so were just a mass of fur, howler monkeys, white faced capuchin monkeys, coatis, iguanas, white tailed deer and a number of butterflies and birds, most of which did not stop to say hello.

My main blip today is the coati apparently, although it looked like a racoon to me. In extras you have the common Basilisk, sometimes called the Jesus Christ lizard as it has the ability to run across water to escape predators. You also have a nice looking bird and a butterfly which I have yet to identify and an iguana.

It was a wonderful walk through the national park, but it was very hot - certainly a 4 bottles of water type of day - good job I have a willing husband who carries them all.
Tonight we were also treated to a lovely sunset as well. We are feeling VERY lucky at the moment as everything on this trip so far has been fabulous.
