A hurdy-gurdy
This is a hurdy-gurdy. I'd never heard of one or seen one before.
Definition on Wikipedia: "The hurdy-gurdy is a stringed instrument that produces sound by a hand crank-turned, rosined wheel rubbing against the strings. The wheel functions much like a violin bow, and single notes played on the instrument sound similar to those of a violin. Melodies are played on a keyboard that presses tangents—small wedges, typically made of wood—against one or more of the strings to change their pitch. Like most other acoustic stringed instruments, it has a sound board and hollow cavity to make the vibration of the strings audible." So, you get the idea.
This was Sunday and I was working. We were just a bit busy at work. I was a bit tired and I've been taking medication for my cough as well, so I wasn't in my highest spirits when I finished work, but I still went to the Boathouse for some live music. One of the musicians was playing this hurdy-gurdy!
Thanks very much for all your lovely comments and stars. I hope you all had a good Sunday! :)
