Raining, Cats And Dogs
My daughter and granddog visited on this wild and wet day. I enjoyed pointing out mammal tracks to Frankie dog so that she could sniff them. It was nice to see Pheasy in his usual position amongst the burdock seedheads.
After lunch we drove through the floods, dropped Frank back home and visited a local animal rescue charity. We were in my old blue S2000 and I found it quite difficult navigating the steep, rutted and muddy track to the centre. We loved the place, some of the animals were housed in a characterful listed barn, we spotted a cat peering out of a hole in an upper hay door and geese were paddling in puddles in the yard. We could see that housing development was taking place all around and were told that the buildings are being incorporated into the plan and that the centre will have to relocate.
We heard so many sad stories of animal suffering that we both ended up in tears. My pic is of Sasha, a lovely natured but nervous young bitch rescued from one of the notorious Romanian compounds.
