I was honoured to be asked to deliver the “Toast to the Lassies” at the Scottish Parliament Presiding Officer’s annual Burns Supper for the Consular Corps.

This being the “Year of Young People” the Haggis was addressed by 16 year old Sean Russell from Falkirk.

It put me in mind of the first big Burns Supper at which I did the same . I was 16 too and surprisingly I have a picture (from Troon in 1970) to prove it.
