Give us a break

A misty start to the day and much cooler than of late, compounded by a lack of hot water in the shower block. The washing that I had left out under our awning was damper than it was last night.

The ploy of sticking to the cycle path did not appear to be working as every time we go out we see caterpillars and much time is spent stomping on them and then clearing the path of traces. I suggested that today we look at the broad forest fire breaks surfaced with soft sand. I had cast my mind back to school and biology lessons and reckoned that a creature that breathes via a row of holes (Spiracles, if memory serves me well) in its sides must avoid a sandy environment if possible...

We saw no caterpillars after leaving the concrete path. Sound theory? Or just the fact that the weather is cooler? Or the lack of sun?

Currently working on our next escape plan, which will have an exploration theme. We are thinking of going off on Monday and returning Tuesday, hopefully this time with food supplies. Stocks are running low and we shall soon be out of beer. The gin is already gone. Thankfully, the bar/restaurant will be open again tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday. We won't mention the "supermarket" which is not worthy of the name and the only essential that it stocks is Sangria. Oh, well, then again, maybe not such a poor shop :-)
