The Ted Ashby

S and I had an appointment with our lawyer this morning and afterwards met daughter C and her boys for lunch at Pescado in the Wynyard Quarter. Mr H is doing well just three days after having some orthodontic surgery. A canine is growing horizontally behind the incisors, and that have attached a small chain and once they get started with it all the tooth is pulled down into the right position and orientation. Over many months.

Near the end of our lunch, the Ted Ashby sailed past on its afternoon one hour cruise. It is a ketch-rigged deck scow. It was built by staff of the Auckland Maritime Museum, assisted by some volunteers, and was launched in August 1993. This was the type of cargo ship used around the northern New Zealand coast in the late 19th century. The Ted Ashby is used to carry passengers on a one hour cruise around the Waitemata Harbour; twice a day (morning and afternoon) Tuesday to Sunday.

Later this evening we drove north for a long weekend out of the city.
