Duck 'o the Day

Where there is a female merganser, there is likely a male, and I was very happy to see this striking Hooded Merganser today. The red reflections are from a bush that has very red stems which are all bare except for some berries here and there. 

The mergansers are pretty shy and having Salem with me makes it harder to hang out and wait for them to adjust to my presence. The mallards are much more nonchalant. The grebes are pretty chill too.
