Pub Sign No. 3

Just along the road from Turf Moor - the home of Burnley Football Club - is the Turf Hotel (see extra).
The sign proudly shows Jimmy McIlroy, one of the greatest players in the history of Burnley. 
He joined Burnley in 1950 from the Northern Ireland team Glentoran for £7,000 (those were the days). 
Between 1950 and 1962 he played 497 matches for the "Clarets" and scored 131 goals.
