Deflated

Balloons tied to a gatepost indicate the venue for a party so any invitees unfamiliar with the area know exactly where to go.

That is why these were tied to the church railings, for last Tuesday the building was to have been the venue for a small event for some refugees. Church members were requested to loan floor cushions and the organiser laid on a tea.

Sadly, not one of the invitees attended. Apparently they all dashed off to a protest following Turkey's invasion of Afrin in Syria but did not think to inform the host until some time after they were expected, which leaves us all feeling, like the welcoming balloons, somewhat deflated.
