Baby Groot

This olive root was exhumed some three years ago and has been in this position, above ground, ever since. During cool and moist weather it puts out shoots, presumably with the intention of surviving as a tree, but when the weather becomes hotter and drier the little shoots wither and die. 

I feel a bit guilty about that.
