Lampshade

I was struck by this lampshade, the shapes of the holes, and the patches of light projected on the wall.

I found it in the Old Fire Station, one entrance of which is in the corner of Oxford's market, and which serves in part as a gallery and exhibition place for local artists. If I have my facts straight, this is part of the Kajo Collection of Hanna Francis, who says

"This collection of delicate wood lampshades brings warmth to any interior. The subtle perforated patterns cast beautiful displays of light within a space, highlighting the natural beauty of wood."

The shade was one of my favourite things for the day!

The reason for being in the Old Fire Station was, I'm afraid, to shelter from the rain! We were just making a quick trip to the Wednesday market when there were a couple of brief but torrential downpours, and we were just by the Old Fire Station when the second one started. Within a few minutes, the sun was out again. Behind the market stalls, the trees are beginning to display fine autumnal colours.

And, within the market, these frying Chinese dumplings smelled delicious, and were attracting a brisk trade.
