Local Snowdrops

I'm still working out what to take on holiday (taking the precaution to turn on the telephone answering machine, following several recent unwanted calls) so to give my brain a break and for a breath of fresh air I popped out to the park to check up on the Winter Aconites and other Spring flowers that proliferate on the sheltered south-facing slope.

And they are doing well. Primroses are flowering but struggling against fallen branches, Daffodils are beginning to show buds but it will be a while before any show colour, Aconites are, indeed, in full fig, but I do like a good Snowdrop. These appear in many separate patches, not all maturing at the same time; so plenty of colour white to come, and beneath it all, the Ramsons is poking shiny green shoots through the leaf litter, promising a good supply of garlicky leaves for the kitchen.

Garden? Who needs a garden?
