Determined

Robins are the classic garden friends. They keep you company as you work, even posing on a fork or serenading you. Some will take food from your hand. And they can be so aggressive if they aren’t keen on intruders.

My friendly little robin comes out to see if I’ve filled the flat feeder with mealworms and he welcomes me home from the gym singing on the bush by my front door.

He has developed a taste for sunflower hearts (most birds have recently) and I’ve sometimes caught him trying to feed from one of the upright feeders. Robins aren’t supposed to be able to do this.

My little friend is learning - and I managed to snap one of his more successful efforts. He’s very nearly cracked it.
