The Favourite

I don’t go to the cinema on a sunny afternoon, but I love a daytime showing when it’s wet and miserable.

For several days they have forecast a warmer, wetter, and cloudy Sunday. They were so wrong.

Luckily, my local boutique cinema is at Barton Marina and a stroll round the lake in sparkly Winter sunshine is wonderful. So I got to do both.

I’d booked because the seats had nearly all gone and “The Favourite” is coming to the end of the run. Olivia Colman is superb as Queen Anne. The photography is splendid and very different and there are some amazing lines and performances.

But it was rather odd, and I wouldn’t rush to see it again.
