Rain, rain

And more rain. Monteverde cloud forest is certainly living up to it's name. Pouring rain and howling winds and not particularly warm. This is hubby and I standing on the continental divide between the Caribbean and the Pacific. Can you see the Pacific ocean behind us? Really? We were assured it was there. But at least we got the opportunity to Don our rather fetching plastic ponchos.
First thing this morning we had a guided tour with a very nice young man called Jesus. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the plants and wildlife and managed to find for us the bird every one wants to see in Monteverde, the resplendent quetzal (although too far to get a decent photo).
My extra is an abandoned hummingbird best which was beside the path and not long ago contained 2 eggs which were, in the words of Jesus, the size of tic tacs. Later on we took the car down to monteverde village and met bat man and his bats, he was very enthusiastic about them.
